Biography:

“I have a duty to my country to help. And that’s what I’ll do.”

Anna Maria O’Brian began her war-time journey as the performer she was. Creating shows for the men who fought so valiantly for their country. And yet with each show, she felt she wasn’t contributing enough to the cause. So in late 1915, she joined the war effort as a VAD, alongside her mother Catherine Maria, and her eldest brother Thomas J. O’Brian who resided amongst the RAMC.

It would be a year later that she was assigned to the Mudros situation in Greece, where she’d board the famed white star liner, Britannic. Now a hospital ship. With the wake of the Titanic tragedy still looming over the O’Brian family as it had nearly killed Thomas. She holds her bearings well and packs her things ready to begin her journey.
