Biography:
Raymond Brochard was born on May 14, 1871, in Paris. His father, Philippe, was a traveler and writer, and his mother was a teacher at his school. During the German Occupation, until 1873, his family moved to Cherbourg. He excelled at school, where he became interested in literature and history. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps and write his own stories about various events, both in France and abroad. In 1904, he began publishing excerpts from his stories. In 1906, he joined the literary association "Abbey." In 1898, Raymond survived the sinking of the "La Bourgogne," which sank on July 4 after colliding with the British ship "Cromartyshire." In 1908, he wrote the book "La Bourgogne" in memory of this event. In 1909, he began compiling a book of his adventures, describing all his travels to various places. In 1912, he survived the Titanic, boarding a collapsible lifeboat D. In 1914, he returned from Canada to France to go to the front of the Great War. In November 1916, he was transferred to the Balkan Front, so he boarded the HMHS Britannic
