Biography:

From rickety old sailing ships to the biggest and newest liners in the world, Rubens career, though perhaps not reaching as high as others, has by no means been uneventful.

Forced out to sea from youth, Rubens life as a seafarer began on fishing boats out in the North Sea. As times changed, and technology marched on, he found opportunities to man the rigging on bigger an newer ships.

By the start of the Great War, he'd been an employee of the White Star Line for a little over a year, and thus was eventually rotated to serve aboard the Britannic once the need arose, accompanying her from September onwards.
