Biography:

Gibson is one of the six dozen or so RAMC privates serving onboard the HMHS Britannic, who in total form about a sixth of the ship's RAMC personnel. He is usually a fun-loving, sometimes playful person, but when the situation calls for it, he can completely switch up his attitude on a dime to take the moment far more seriously (which has come in especially handy during his service so far).

Back in 1914, a 17-year-old Gibson had signed up for the war effort and joined the RAMC, partly because he was swept up by the "war fever", but mainly because he had a genuine pre-existing interest in first aid and some experience in the field thanks to a childhood family friend who was a member of the St. John Ambulance Association.
His mother and especially his father objected as any concerned parent would when they heard that their boy wanted to go to war, but Gibson persisted. After several weeks of heated debate over "the future" and "the greater good" among other topics, the Stainthorpes finally relented and allowed Gibson to sign up, but on the condition that he would avoid harm's way the best he could.

His family largely got that promise, whether by luck or by Gibson's own efforts to stay as far as possible from the front lines. Since the start of the war, Gibson has "only" served on hospital ships. He is now serving on the HMHS Britannic at age 19, his fourth and largest hospital ship so far. Britannic's departure from Southampton on Sunday marks Gibson's third voyage on the great ship.
