The ship's Radiologist in charge of the onboard x-ray unit. Born in Barton Regis in 1879 to an Irish couple, Ellen Maria Gower and George Frederic Bergin. He had a simple childhood, growing up like any other boy during that time period. His grades were mostly good, and he was praised for his knowledge in physics. Eventually he also graduated university. Not much else is known about his earlier years. Later on in life in his adulthood, he was an excellent radiologist who worked for many years in the hospitals of Bristol. That was until the war broke out. On the 13th of November 1915, an x-ray unit was requisitioned for His Majesty's Hospital Ship Britannic. According to the British National Archives, the x-ray equipment was installed on the 14th of December by well known x-ray supplier F.R. Butt & Co. And that's when Frank Gower Bergin was employed. He boarded the ship and sailed with her until her military service came to an end in June of 1916. But that wasn't the end of the story. In August of that year the Britannic was recalled. And with that, Frank was required again. And now it's finally time for another voyage to the Mediterranean Sea.
