Lorenzo Polonia Born: 6th December 1872 Lorenzo Polonia was born on December 6th, 1872, in a small coastal town in southern Italy. His early life was marked by a sense of duty and care for others, a calling that led him to join the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) in 1895. Driven by a desire to serve and heal, Lorenzo’s skills as a medical practitioner quickly gained recognition. He became well-respected for his calm demeanor in crises, his precision, and his compassion, earning him the trust of his peers and superiors alike. By the early 20th century, as tensions in Europe began to rise, Lorenzo found himself stationed at various military outposts, providing medical care to soldiers and civilians alike during the escalating conflicts. His work was not limited to physical injuries but also included treating the psychological wounds of war—an area he found particularly important as it often went unnoticed. In 1915, Lorenzo was assigned to the HMHS Britannic, the sister ship of the ill-fated Titanic, during its service as a hospital ship in World War I
